The San – Wood Lamp: A Fusion of Architecture, Design and Craftsmanship
With a background in architecture and a passion for design, it was a natural step for Puck to create his own collection of lamps. The San – Wood lamp is the result of a fascinating design process, inspired by two powerful elements: the reuse of product flows and a tribute to brutalism, an architectural movement that has captured the imagination for decades with its robust shapes and materiality.
From Idea to Design: Brutalism and Product Flows
The design of the San – Wood lamp was born from Puck’s fascination for both sustainability and architectural design. Brutalism, with its honest, raw materials and strong design language, was the perfect source of inspiration for this lamp. In combination with the concept of product flows, in which residual materials and existing raw materials are reused, this created a unique basis for the design.
The focus was on the use of Baltex fabrics, a material that is normally used in our products. This fabric was ideal for creating beautiful lampshades. The light is filtered through the fabric in a subtle, atmospheric way, which gives a warm, soft look to any room.
A Harmony of Materials: Wood and Concrete
The challenge was to design a lamp base that would perfectly match the wooden hood, both aesthetically and in terms of the use of materials. Puck decided to give the Baltex fabric a role here as well, by using it as a mold for the concrete leg. This ensures that the texture of the fabric is printed on the leg, so that the hood and the leg form one visual unit. This is not only a technical feat, but also a nod to brutalism, in which concrete often plays a central role as a structural and expressive material.
The imprint of the weave in the concrete leg creates a unique texture, which exudes both strength and refinement. The raw, robust character of the concrete forms a beautiful contrast with the warm, organic feel of the wooden hood, while the texture of the weave harmoniously connects both elements.
Unique Lighting with Depth
The San – Wood lamp is more than just a light source; it is a work of art in itself. Each lamp tells a story of architectural inspiration, craftsmanship and sustainability. The combination of wood, concrete and fabric creates a unique play of light and shadow, which influences the atmosphere of any room in a special way.
With San – Wood, Puck brings his love for architecture and design to life, in an object that is not only functional but also has a powerful visual impact. It is a lamp that embodies both the modernist values of brutalist architecture and the beauty of natural materials.
The San – Wood Lamp in Your Interior
Whether you prefer a minimalist, industrial or warm and natural interior, the San – Wood lamp fits perfectly in different styles. The unique combination of materials and craftsmanship ensure that this lamp is a real eye-catcher, while the subtle play of light creates an atmospheric ambiance.
